Charity Support
Contributing to good causes is something we view important at Hewins.

Children with Cancer UK
September 2022
We recently offered our support to Nick Strong of Stairway Joinery Southern Ltd as he prepares to run the Virgin London Marathon on behalf of Children with Cancer UK.
Nick has been affected by the suffering of his school-friend's child, and we were only too glad to support Nick and this worthy cause, helping to raise funds to research into determining the causes of cancer, finding cures and providing care for children living with cancer.
Visit Nick's Just Giving page here to learn more.
We wish him the best of luck in his marathon expedition!

Lopen Music Weekend
July 2022
We're proud to be supporting the annual Music Weekend in Lopen this year which features two concerts on the 8th and 9th of October.
The purpose of the Music Weekend is to provide high quality classical music for the people of Lopen and the surrounding area, and to raise funds for the Church and Sunday School rooms, which are much used by the village.
We joined with other local businesses in the area and contributed towards the cost of putting on this event, organised by Jonathan Delbridge.
The line up includes international virtuoso trumpeter Crispian Steele-Perkins - well-known in the classical music world and the musician behind many TV theme tunes such as the Antiques Road Show - so it promises to be a great weekend of music!

Prodigal Bikes
May 2018
We were pleased to recently sponsor a 164 mile bike ride from Merriot to Lands End! This helped fund another shipment of bikes to needy children in Kenya.
Prodigal Bikes refurbish donated bikes, whilst teaching engineering skills and giving work experience to those who need that second chance. These bikes are then shipped to Africa.
In Africa, the bikes are used by patients to access healthcare, and by school children and teachers to get to schools. They also provide tools, spare parts and training to keep the bikes working.

St Margaret's Hospice
June 2016
We donated some oak sleepers for a garden project to the local St Margaret's Hospice, Quantock House.
Quantock House provides carers and patients with respite accommodation and a chance to recuperate in pleasant surroundings.
The oak sleepers will enable users of all ages and abilities to enjoy gardening and all the benefits to wellbeing that this pastime offers.
We love to support this local charity - one that has grown from a team of just 3, to now over 300 staff and 1,200 volunteers serving the whole of Somerset, caring for over 5,000 people each year!
