Managing Oak forests
How is Oak kept sustainable?

How is Oak kept sustainable?
Oak is a totally sustainable resource. Forestry management
schemes such as FSC® and PEFC are well established
throughout Europe and beyond, ensuring that European Oak remains an entirely renewable resource.
For example, France established a controlled forest
management system in 1827 and now has a staggering 524
million cubic metres of standing Oak with an annual harvest
of around 2.5 million cubic metres. As a result of this
foresight, some of the world's finest Oak is sourced from
French forests.
Hewins has held FSC® and PEFC certification since 2006.
