Helping to prepare young people locally with skills for life. South Petherton, Somerset
The 2nd South Petherton Scout Group believes in preparing youths with skills for life by encouraging the younger generations to do more, learn more and be more.
It was awesome to be able to recently support this organisation with a donation towards their new air rifle range in the local Scout building.
So far, they have raised over £500 which has been invested in safety equipment, and the group are now seeking further donations to purchase pre-charged Pneumatic air rifles - the safest type of air rifle on the market.
Air rifle shooting offers young people the chance to perfect their hand eye coordination, focuses on range discipline and safe handling of equipment, and hones their skills and technique.
By exposing young people to the handling of firearms in a safe and controlled environment, they become more aware of the risks are less likely to negatively pursue this channel when they become young adults. They will learn about the law and regulations that must be adhered to and the potential consequences when not followed.

Teamwork, leadership and resilience are all skills that have helped Scouts transform their lives into everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians!
