Adding style and grandeur to any entryway, our Fresh Sawn Oak Gateposts are available with either a 4 way weathertop or rounded top. Sawn fresh from the log with a fine sawn finish, the timber will naturally shrink and fissures develop over time as it dries and settles in situ, weathering to a silver/grey colour.

We can manufacture all styles of truss including King post, Queen post, braced, interrupted tie-beam, sling, cruck and collar tie.

Grade overview

European grade QP1; largely clear sections with some tolerance of knots and other natural defects. Sapwood up to 15% of the face, and limited wane is permitted to the edges. Some heart trace is possible on two faces, and the occasional dead knot is allowed. Ask us for a more detailed grade overview.

Options

It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that trusses are suitable for the specific structural requirements of the project. Each type of oak truss requires structural calculations prior to manufacture, which can be sourced by the customer or arranged through Hewins. Truss designs must be approved by a structural engineer, and a copy of the structural report seen before we can begin manufacture.
